DOPPLER ULTRASOUND

WHAT IS IT? 
Doppler ultrasound is a procedure that is used to evaluate the blood vessels, arterial and venous, to determine caliber, blood flow, sufficiency of the venous valves and to exclude thrombosis.  


Your primary referring physician will ask for this test when there is a suspicion of vascular disease. Some of the signs and symptoms that suggest vascular disease are swollen arms or legs, both or one, pain in the legs, change of skin color, numbness feeling, pain during walking.  
  
WHO CAN GET IT DONE?  
Any person with symptoms of vascular disease.  
   
WHAT PREPARATION IS REQUIRED BEFORE? 
No preparation is needed for this test. The patient must have a good hygiene before the test.  
 
DURATION OF THE PROCEDURE: 
Usually this test takes about 30 min. for one part of the body examinated.
